Ausra welcomes Australia's solar leadership

New $1.36 billion budget for grid scale solar

Sydney, Australia – 13 May, 2009 – Ausra Pty Ltd, the designer, manufacturer and developer of solar thermal technology for utility-scale solar power and steam applications, today commended the Rudd Government’s visionary move to fund construction of at least four major solar power plants, the largest project of its kind currently in the world.

Ausra Australian CEO Bob Matthews said: "Australia will be a solar superpower when these plans are implemented. The Solar Flagships program announced in yesterday’s budget will create an additional 1,000 megawatts of solar generation capacity—three times the size of the largest solar energy project currently operating anywhere in the world."

"We look forward to supporting the Rudd Government in advancing Australia’s solar energy goals."
